You rent a private storage unit at one of our facilities, load it with whatever you need to store, and access it whenever you need to during opening hours. Units come in a range of sizes, from small lockers to large rooms that can hold the contents of an entire house. There are no long-term commitments required, and you only pay for the space you use.
How much does self storage cost in the UK?
The cost of self storage varies depending on your location, the size of unit you need, and how long you plan to store. Units in London and major city centres are priced higher than those in smaller towns. At Safestore, prices are calculated per square foot, so you only ever pay for the space you actually use. The quickest way to get an accurate price is to use our online quote tool, which shows live availability and pricing at your nearest store. New customers can also take advantage of our introductory offers, currently 50% off for 8 weeks or £1 for the first month at selected stores.
How do I choose the right storage unit size?
The right unit size depends on how much you need to store. As a general guide, a small unit of around 25 sq ft is suitable for the contents of a studio flat, a 75 sq ft unit can hold the contents of a two-bedroom house, and larger units are available for bigger moves or business storage needs. All Safestore facilities are open seven days a week, and you can visit your unit as often as you like during your store's opening hours. Access hours vary by location, with some stores offering extended hours. Your local store page will show the specific opening times for that store. All facilities are monitored by 24-hour CCTV and secured with individual unit alarms, so your belongings are protected around the clock whether you are there or not.
